Haynes Boone is excited to welcome Partner Sam Young, Attorney Rose Mercer and Associate Gage Beekman to the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group. The trio follow Ben Herd from Holland & Knight after Herd joined the firm in early September.
This team brings deep experience in real estate finance to Haynes Boone, as they all have extensive experience advising lenders on complex commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized loan obligations (CLO), and structured finance transactions, as well as in default resolution and REO property sales. They also represent national and regional banks in commercial loan transactions, including syndications, multi-tranche construction financing and acquisition loans for major commercial developments.
In addition to lender representation, the team has an extensive sponsor-side practice, acting as trusted advisors to top real estate operators and equity providers on projects nationwide. The group’s portfolio includes advising on Class-A multifamily developments, retail centers, office towers and specialty properties, such as medical office buildings and industrial sites.
"The arrival of Ben, Sam, Rose and Gage will enhance our ability to offer clients a broad range of real estate services," said Brad Lavender, Co-Chair of Haynes Boone's Real Estate Practice. "Their deep experience in structured finance and other complex real estate transactions complements our existing strengths, enabling us to fully service our clients in all their real estate and related needs."
Young, who is based in Northern Virginia, becomes the eighth partner to join the firm’s global Real Estate Practice Group this year. Following Herd’s arrival in Dallas, Young joins Brett Dockwell and Joe Sarcinella in New York City, Dan Mallet and David Hengstler in Orange County, Mark Payne in London and George Hinchey in San Antonio.
Mercer and Beekman both come to Haynes Boone after spending the last two-and-a-half years with Holland & Knight.
