Biography

Sam Young is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group in Haynes Boone’s Northern Virginia and Dallas offices.

For more than a decade, Sam has had the privilege of representing the country’s leading real estate operators, lenders, equity providers and managers in transactions across the country and the globe in all facets of the commercial real estate and finance marketplaces. His experience representing sponsors, lenders and equity providers offers a unique benefit to his clients.

With respect to his lending and structured finance practices, Sam has represented lenders, note purchasers and servicers in commercial mortgaged-backed securities (CMBS), collateralized loan obligations (CLO), relationship bank lending, project finance and structured finance transactions. Sam has also represented collateral agents and special servicers in relation to defaulted or troubled loan workouts, maturity default resolution, collateral foreclosure, lease negotiation and the sale of real estate-owned (REO) property.

In his sponsor-side representation, Sam has been the go-to trusted advisor for some of the world’s best sponsors in large commercial projects, including medical office buildings, specialty hospital, affordable housing, retail, self-storage, industrial projects, residential lot developments, multifamily complexes, large retail shopping centers and office towers.

Finally, Sam has represented some of the world’s most sophisticated capital allocators in their investments in large commercial real estate projects and programmatic real estate joint ventures.
