Roger Royse, Philip Albert, Alfredo Amoedo, Jiaping Liu, Brittany Parks in 2022 Super Lawyers/Rising Stars Directories

Two Haynes Boone partners, Roger Royse and Philip Albert, are included in the 2022 Northern California Super Lawyers directory, published by Thomson Reuters. Three associates – Alfredo Amoedo, Jiaping (Charlene) Liu and Brittany Parks – are listed in the companion 2022 Northern California Rising Stars directory.

Super Lawyers recognizes the top lawyers in Northern California annually, via a multiphase selection process involving peer nomination, independent research, and peer evaluation. Only 5 percent of the total lawyers in a state are selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers. To be eligible for inclusion in the Rising Stars directory, which follows a similar selection process as Super Lawyers, a candidate must be 40 years of age or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. No more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in a state are choses as Rising Stars.

Roger Royse

Based in Palo Alto, Roger practices in the areas of corporate and securities law, domestic and international tax, mergers and acquisitions, and fund formation. He works with companies ranging from newly formed tech startups to publicly traded multinationals in a variety of industries. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and former chair of several committees of the American Bar Association Sections of Business Law and Taxation.

Philip Albert

Philip is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Practice Group in San Francisco. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, setting up internal patent review protocols for clients, evaluating patents of others for purchase, licensing, or design-around, addressing IP components of transactions or due diligence project, and open-source licensing advice. He deals with clients in a variety of technology areas, such as computer graphics, satellite communications, network security, and cryptocurrencies.

Alfredo Amoedo

Alfredo is a litigation associate in the firm’s San Francisco office. His practice focuses on assisting clients at all stages of litigation, from pre-suit demands through trial, and has handled litigation matters involving IP, securities, unfair competition, employment, consumer fraud, and consumer class actions.

Jiaping (Charlene) Liu

Charlene is an IP lawyer with an extensive knowledge of patents and a focus on patent prosecution and assertion matters. She performs client counseling, portfolio development and management in various technological fields, and in particular focusing on software, AI and deep learning, semiconductors, integrated circuits, financial service, and network security. Charlene also frequently counsels clients on assertions and licensing disputes, such as in the realm of standard essential patents and wireless technology.

Brittany Parks

Brittany is an associate in the Litigation and Insurance Recovery Practice Groups in the firm’s San Francisco and Orange County offices. She represents policyholders in a variety of complex insurance coverage matters, helping corporations recover funds under a variety of insurance products, including policies covering Directors and Officers (D&O), Commercial General Liability (CGL), Bankers Professional Liability (BPL), and Property Damage and Business Interruption. She is also committed to pro bono work, recently securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in coverage for her clients in a health insurance dispute. In addition to her insurance coverage practice, Brittany also has litigated IP, business, and employment claims.
