It is with great sorrow that Haynes Boone shares the loss of our partner and friend of many years, Tom Tippetts, who passed away at 46 years old on Tuesday, June 4.
Tom’s brilliant mind accounted for far more than his phenomenal success as a lawyer. While he was often the smartest person in any room, he was always the last to acknowledge it. But everyone around him benefitted, including his partners, young lawyers who became his mentees, the many clients turned friends and countless colleagues who shared his company and conversation.
Always comfortable in his own shoes, no matter the crowd, Tom was an intellectual and an armchair culture critic—as content to discuss metaphysics and the capabilities of the human mind as he was playoff basketball and indie rock music. He had a unique capability to dive deep on any topic, and he worked hard to indulge the interests of those around him.
Tom joined Haynes Boone as an associate in 2006, newly graduated from the University of Texas School of Law. He practiced with the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group through May of 2024, becoming a partner in 2014 and playing an integral role in the growth of the firm’s presence in Denver, including the meticulous design of its new, state-of-the-art office that opened in 2022. It is no understatement to say that the Haynes Boone M&A Group would not hold its high regard within the industry without Tom’s 18 years of hard work and dedication.
Our deepest condolences are with Tom’s family, including his wife, Sarah, and their children Tess, Adelle and William. They ask that Tom’s friends remember him by buying from a local bookstore, listening to music and enjoying nature.
