Jeremy Kennedy has joined Haynes Boone as a Houston partner in the firm’s Energy Transactions Practice.
He previously worked at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he was a partner and member of the firm’s Global Energy Industry Group. Kennedy is a longtime colleague of Hugh Tucker, who joined Haynes Boone in July from Shearman & Sterling, where he was a Lead Industry Coordinator for Energy.
“We are thrilled to add another lawyer with Jeremy’s skill and experience handing complex energy transactions on a global basis,” said Jeff Nichols, co-chair of Haynes Boone’s Energy Practice Group. “He further strengthens our Energy Practice, which has long been one of the strategic pillars of this firm.”
Kennedy focuses on upstream, midstream and downstream transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and project development. His clients include oil and gas producers, operators, petrochemical manufacturers, oil field services companies, and energy financers.
He says he was attracted to Haynes Boone because “energy is part of its DNA and long-term strategy, as evidence by its deep and broad energy bench and established presence as a market leader. Haynes Boone’s strong culture and the structures it has in place to encourage collaboration between lawyers was also very important to us. We want to be at a firm where our team can be happy and thrive.”
Kennedy is joined at Haynes Boone by Will Johnson, a former Shearman & Sterling associate in the firm’s Project Development and Finance Practice. Haynes Boone Associate John Craven also joined the firm in July from Shearman & Sterling.
