Tanner Luttrull
Biography
Tanner Luttrull is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Haynes Boone’s Dallas office.
Tanner provides clients with a broad range of transactional IP legal services including technology transactions, IP licensing, data processing and privacy, copyright clearance and registration, and patent prosecution. He has served clients in a variety of industries, ranging from defense contractors and automotive manufacturers to restaurant and software companies.
Tanner’s practice focuses on counseling clients on the licensing, development, and transfer of software, data, technology, creative works, and other intellectual property. Tanner has experience drafting and negotiating commercial software licenses, data licensing agreements, technology development agreements, information technology services contracts, software-as-a-service (SaaS) agreements, distribution agreements, supplier agreements, and cloud computing arrangements. He also regularly assists clients with intellectual property, privacy, data transfer, and technology transfer issues that arise in corporate mergers, acquisitions, capital investments, and spin-offs.
Tanner also counsels clients on data processing and privacy issues, including the drafting and negotiation of data processing agreements and the creation of internal and external privacy policies. Tanner has experience with privacy issues at the international, federal, and state level, helping clients to gain and maintain compliance with privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the upcoming Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA).
Tanner’s practice also includes preparing and prosecuting U.S., Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), and foreign utility and design patent applications.
Prior to law school, Tanner received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas. During that time, he also gained valuable experience working in the areas of mechanical system design and mass production for aerospace defense contractors.
