On May 16, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a draft compliance policy guide to provide the agency's current thinking to field staff on major food allergen labeling and allergen cross-contact.
The draft guide comes as the FDA is taking a closer look at complaints that food producers may have added sesame as an ingredient to products that didn't previously contain sesame in response to the addition of sesame to the list of major food allergens that require labeling and preventive controls.
