Domina in Ignites: SEC Examiners Home In on AI, Outsourcing

Haynes Boone Partner Daren Domina was quoted in an article from Ignites after the Securities and Exchange Commission's exam staff released the agency's fiscal year 2025 examination policies on Monday, which will focus on functions that industry shops have outsourced to third parties.

This is not the first time that the SEC examiners have focused on third-party service providers, Domina told Ignites. Both the SEC and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority have at times focused on the scope of a third party's services, the level of oversight and monitoring, what is being disclosed about their relationship, and additional safeguards that should be put in place.

Many of the SEC's exam priorities for investment advisors, fund shops, broker-dealers, self-regulatory organizations like Finra and other registrants have remained similar year over year, Domina said.
