Insurance Recovery

At Haynes Boone, we’re not just your advocates; we’re your business partners. The lawyers in our Insurance Recovery Practice Group handle some of the largest, most complex insurance coverage matters in the world. While doing so, we have obtained precedent-setting decisions on cutting-edge insurance issues and have obtained significant insurance recoveries for our clients.

Although we certainly take pride in those accomplishments, we are most proud of the values we bring to our client relationships. We get to know your business, act as your trusted partner, and treat your company as though it were our own family business. We internalize your goals and make them our own.

Once we know what you need, we go after it in a way tailored to your business. When it’s appropriate, we are tenacious, aggressive litigators and trial lawyers, with experience taking on scores of carriers around the world. But, when called for, we also strategically create leverage to pursue early settlements. Whatever approach we take, we’re in it together with our clients. We provide added value beyond legal advice, providing input on general business strategy and major decisions when asked. We also offer significant flexibility in the economic terms of our engagement, often co-investing in matters with our clients under shared-risk arrangements.

Our insurance recovery lawyers help clients through the entire insurance coverage lifecycle – from obtaining the best available terms and conditions of coverage on the “front-end” of policy procurement to addressing and resolving insurance claim disputes through litigation, arbitration, and mediation. We focus on recovering large settlements from, and rulings against, insurers in cases across the country. We helped one of the nation’s largest automotive companies in a residual value insurance case reach a nine-figure settlement just before the end of trial – one of the largest settlements of its kind. For a real estate client, we won a Supreme Court of Texas ruling affirming a judgment against an insurance carrier to cover property damage arising from Hurricane Rita.

We work with clients, from Fortune 100 companies to smaller businesses, in numerous industries, including energy, healthcare, hospitality, financial services, real estate, construction, automotive and other transportation, telecommunications, religious and other non-profit, manufacturing, and private equity, and with individual directors and officers (D&Os) of companies. Our Insurance Recovery Practice Group can provide quantifiable return on investment based on a client’s level of recovery.
