Biography

Michael McCarty is an associate in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Dallas – North office of Haynes Boone. His practice focuses on preparing and prosecuting patents covering a wide variety of complex technologies, including artificial intelligence and cellular communications, as well as a range of other electrical and software-enabled technologies.

Michael's experience in artificial intelligence/deep learning/machine learning includes extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patents with complex machine learning algorithms. His experience includes working with various algorithms such as image processing, natural language processing (NLP), time-series data algorithms, transformer models, generative adversarial networks (GANs), diffusion models, reinforcement learning models, and variational auto-encoders (VAEs), among others.

Prior to his legal career, Michael worked at engineering firms specializing in embedded electronics design. There, he designed systems with processors and FPGAs for mass spectrometer systems, in addition to general-purpose industrial controllers. His expertise also includes software and FPGA programming tasks in support of hardware designs.
