W. Stephen Wilson Joins Haynes Boone as Real Estate Senior Counsel in San Francisco

January 16, 2024

Haynes Boone is delighted to announce the addition of Senior Counsel W. Stephen Wilson to the firm’s San Francisco office and Real Estate Practice Group. Wilson joins from Withers Bergman LLP, bringing with him an esteemed reputation and an expansive portfolio of clients.

Wilson is a veteran of California real estate, entering his 51st year of experience in the state. His clients are dedicated and long-term. Wilson’s practice is statewide, focused on transactional work but also including substantial pre-litigation planning and support. His transactional work includes complex LLCs, joint ventures, purchase/sale, leasing, land use and Opportunity Zone issues.

"I am excited to bring my extensive background in California real estate law to Haynes Boone, with its broad command of real estate issues nationwide,” Wilson said. “The firm’s practical attitude towards client needs aligns perfectly with my own, and I am excited at the opportunity to grow a comprehensive commercial real estate practice in the Bay Area and throughout California."

Recently, Wilson undertook a five-year process for transforming a large, underdeveloped campus owned by an historic religious order into a mixed-use project called The Gardens at Palmdale, featuring single-family homes, a congregate care facility to accommodate age-in-place residence of retired religious members, and a fully endowed legacy park owned by a new community non-profit but open to the public. The project also included renovation of two historic mansions on the site.

“Steve is going to significantly enhance our real estate practice, both in the Bay Area and nationwide,” Troy Christenson, co-chair of the Real Estate Practice Group, said. “His depth of experience is a great addition to the firm, and we are thrilled to be adding him to our team.”

Outside the office, Wilson is a director of the APA Heritage Foundation and organizes Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month each May in San Francisco, which was the first in the United States and still the largest in the nation. Additionally, he has been a longtime board member of the HealthRight 360 Foundation, which provides integrated medical, dental, behavioral health outpatient, residential treatment and re-entry services to over 40,000 people annually in the Bay Area.
