The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), one of the legal profession’s premier diversity, equity and inclusion organizations, has named Haynes Boone Partner Vicki Odette a recipient of its 2024 Rainmakers Award.
The Rainmakers distinction honors attorneys who have achieved success through innovative, consistent and proactive business development. The MCCA was founded in 1997 to champion the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys in law firms and corporate law departments.
“It is an honor to be selected among a prestigious class for this award,” Odette said. “I find it particularly meaningful as a Native American woman to earn this alongside the other diverse winners. Thank you to MCCA for this recognition.”
Odette joined Haynes Boone in 1997 and has played a pivotal role in the firm’s modern success, serving as a partner, executive committee member and global chair of the Investment Management Practice Group. She has built and led an international team of more than 75 lawyers, advising top-tier clients on structuring investment funds and navigating complex arrangements in various sectors of the financial industry.
She is an active participant and leader in organizations that help both the legal industry and the greater community, including a focus on initiatives that benefit children, women, the LGBTQ+ and Black communities. Odette has served on the Capital for Kids Board of Directors, an organization that supports the education, protection and encouragement of at-risk children. She also serves on the grant committee, which awards grants to charities that work to break the cycle of child abuse, poverty and neglect. Odette is also a former chair of the American Bar Association’s Private Equity and Venture Capital Committee and ex-vice chair of the State Bar of Texas Tax Section, among many other positions.
“Vicki is an important leader in the funds community and has played a significant role in the advancement of our global Investment Management Practice Group,” said Haynes Boone Managing Partner Taylor Wilson. “We are delighted for Vicki to receive this honor, and it is well-deserved for her important contributions to the legal field and to our firm’s clients.”
This marks the third time in four years that a Haynes Boone lawyer has earned the Rainmaker distinction, following Trademark Partner Purvi Patel Albers in 2022 and Fund Finance Co-Head Albert Tan in 2021.
Odette and the rest of MCCA’s class of 2024 Rainmakers will receive their awards at a ceremony in conjunction with the Creating Pathways to Diversity Conference and Gala in September in Scottsdale, Arizona.
