Haynes Boone has welcomed Finance Partner Aleksandra Kopec to its quickly growing Charlotte, North Carolina office. Aleks joins from King & Spalding LLP, where she spent more than eight years representing lenders in a variety of finance transactions.
She describes her practice as a “blend of fund finance and leveraged finance.” She has extensive experience leading deals from inception to completion in acquisition financings, capital call facilities and other fund financing transactions.
“I take pride in forming a real partnership with my clients,” Aleks said. “They know I’m invested in their success and in making the best decisions together as a partnership.”
Her arrival at Haynes Boone follows that of five other finance partners who joined in Charlotte last month from Moore & Van Allen PLLC. The firm’s Charlotte office opened in 2019 with three lawyers and has grown to 17 four years later, including six who have come aboard this year.
“Aleks is a fantastic asset to Haynes Boone and our clients, particularly on the lender side, where she is so accomplished and well-known,” said Charlotte Administrative Partner Justin Riess. “Her extensive and varied finance background fits perfectly with our roster of lawyers here in Charlotte.”
Aleks echoed Justin’s excitement, noting the professional and cultural fit.
“I have known and admired Haynes Boone for a long time from various transactions,” she said. “The team is so impressive in terms of substantive knowledge and experience in fund finance transactions and more. Beyond that, it’s just a great personality fit.”
A graduate of Duke University School of Law, Aleks is also deeply involved in the Alexander Youth Network, a nonprofit focused on children’s mental health needs. She’ll chair the board of AYN’s fundraising arm beginning later this year, and she is also involved with Women in Fund Finance and the Fund Finance Association.
