Haynes Boone Crisis Management and Energy Litigation Associate Morgan Haenchen is the recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Young Litigator Award given by the State Bar of Texas (SBOT). The award recognizes attorneys in their first 10 years of practice who demonstrate commitment to equal justice, professionalism and rule of law, and those who have made significant contributions to the community through legal representation or community service.
"I am incredibly honored to receive this award from the Texas State Bar," Haenchen said. "It is a privilege to be recognized among so many dedicated and talented professionals. I am grateful for the support of my family, colleagues, mentors and clients who have contributed to my growth and success in this competitive field."
During her young career, she has successfully represented a wide variety of clients, from high-profile public entities to asylum seekers and non-profit organizations. Whether she is battling on behalf of major energy companies in court, handling crises on behalf of non-profit organizations or advocating for separated children at the U.S.-Mexico border, Haenchen is known to be honest, prepared and effective.
In 2023, she was selected to the prestigious Higginbotham Arbitration Fellowship, and she was recently chosen to participate in the 2024 National ABOTA Trial College. Reflective of her skill as a trial lawyer, Haenchen continues to be recognized as One to Watch by Best Lawyers in America and as a Rising Star by Texas Super Lawyers. Her drive for paying it forward is evidenced by her extensive pro bono efforts, including contributions to the Texas Civil Rights Project, the Genesis Women’s Shelter, Las Americas Immigration Advocacy Center, Houston Volunteer Lawyers, Kids in Need of Defense, WE WILL and the Vote to End Hunger Project.
Haenchen will be recognized during the Litigation Section’s Outstanding Young Litigator Award Ceremony on Thursday, June 20 held in conjunction with the SBOT Annual Meeting in Dallas. As part of the award, she will choose a recipient for a $500 charitable donation by the state bar. Immediately following the ceremony, she will moderate a panel discussion with Texas Legal Legends.
“I encourage all litigators to attend this panel,” she said. “We could all take a page from the books of these legendary lawyers who have shouldered challenges bigger than themselves to make a difference—not just a living.”
