Haynes Boone Partner Maria Hopper has been recognized by The Deal in its Top Women Dealmakers of 2023 list.
The Deal honors exemplary women in the legal profession. This year’s list identifies attorneys who have displayed excellence in their respective legal fields, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructuring and activist investing. To be eligible for the Top Women in Dealmaking list, lawyers must be partners based in the U.S. and have shown the ability to navigate complex transactions over the past 12 months while maintaining strong client relationships and leading in and out of the boardroom.
This is the second recent award for Maria, who was also selected as an Americas Rising Star Dealmaker and one of the nation’s leading M&A lawyers under the age of 40 by The M&A Advisor. She received their Emerging Leaders Award at their Future of Dealmaking Summit last November.
Haynes Boone recently ranked as the state’s fifth most active deal law firm in 2022, according to Texas Lawbook, handling 79 mergers and acquisitions — more than double the firm’s 2021 deal count.
Maria’s practice is focused on mergers, acquisitions, venture capital/private equity investments, and corporate compliance and governance. Specifically, Maria has experience representing corporate, private equity and venture capital clients in structuring, negotiating, documenting and closing mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, as well as assisting with the purchase, sale and ongoing representation of portfolio companies.
Maria is an active member of Haynes Boone's Women's Initiative Committee, the firm's American Heart Association Steering Committee, and the firm's Alumni Committee. In December, she was a part of the deal team that represented Clinigen Limited in its acquisition of Drug Safety Navigator Inc. (DSN), a specialist pharmacovigilance service provider based in the U.S.
Haynes Boone is an international corporate law firm with 19 offices, spanning Texas, New York, California, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Virginia, Washington, D.C., London, Mexico City and Shanghai, providing a full spectrum of legal services in energy, technology, financial services and private equity.
