It is with great sadness that Haynes Boone shares the loss of our friend and partner, Jason K. Zachary, who passed away at 51 years old on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Jason was not only a wildly talented and accomplished corporate lawyer, but also a consummate optimist known for his sterling professionalism and great collaboration and mentorship skills. Colleagues remember Jason as always being the best dressed in any room he entered, no matter the occasion.
Outside the office, he became an outspoken advocate in recent years for the early screening of colorectal cancer, a diagnosis he faced valiantly. He and his wife, Jenny, were sponsors of the 2022 Denver Blue Hope Bash, which raised $154,000 for colorectal cancer patients and survivors. Together with the Denver office, Jason and his family also participated in the 2023 Denver Walk to End Colon Cancer. Apart from these efforts, Jason loved coaching his sons in baseball and was an active member of his church.
Jason joined Haynes Boone’s Denver office in May of 2021 after three years with Greenberg Traurig, two years in house with Vail Resorts, and seven years with Kirkland & Ellis, where he first made partner. He was a decorated scholar, having earned degrees from Texas A&M University, Chicago-Kent College of Law and Georgetown University Law Center.
Our deepest condolences are with Jason’s family, including Jenny and their three sons, Parker, Tyler and Alex.
Those who would like to make a gift in memory of Jason may consider a donation to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
