Veteran Oil & Gas Lawyer Hugh Tucker Join Haynes Boone

July 20, 2022
Hugh Tucker has joined Haynes Boone as a Houston partner in the firm’s Energy Transactions Practice, bringing decades of experience handling complex transactions in the domestic and international energy sectors.

Tucker previously worked at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where he was a Lead Industry Coordinator for Energy and a member of the firm’s Merger & Acquisitions and Project Development and Finance Practices.

“Hugh’s deep familiarity with the energy industry and experience handling just about every type of energy transaction imaginable will be a huge asset to our clients,” said Jeff Nichols, co-chair of Haynes Boone’s Energy Practice Group. “We are thrilled to have him joining our growing Energy Practice.”

Tucker focuses on complex commercial transactions involving the oil and gas (upstream, midstream and downstream) and chemical industries, including acquisition, divestitures and joint ventures, as well as project development and financing. In Chambers USA 2022 (Chambers and Partners), Tucker was ranked as a nationwide leader in two practices: Energy: Oil & Gas (Transactional) and Projects. Chambers quoted market sources who praised him as a “really great lawyer,” who is “very commercially minded” and “is easy to work with and focuses on trying to get deals done for his clients.”

“With its robust energy team and breadth of complementary practices, Haynes Boone provides the perfect platform for my practice,” Tucker said. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to continue building our energy practice.”

Haynes Boone’s Oil and Gas Practice represents domestic and foreign public and private companies that conduct operations across the country in the domestic resource plays and shale plays (including the Midland and Delaware Basins, Eagle Ford, Barnett, Haynesville, Wolfberry, Marcellus, Utica, Niobrara, Woodford, and Bakken/Three Forks) and internationally. Haynes Boone received the highest ranking, National Tier 1, for its Oil & Gas Practice in the 2022 U.S. News & World Report and Best Lawyers "Best Law Firms" directory.
