A group of Haynes Boone lawyers are the proud recipients of the 2025 Lee Cusenbary Impact Award, given annually by the San Antonio Legal Services Association (SALSA).
The award was presented by Mary Brennan Stich of the SALSA Board of Directors on April 16 to recognize nine Haynes Boone lawyers who collectively donated nearly 1,100 hours toward the case of a minor in the bankruptcy of his imprisoned father. The team advocated tirelessly for financial support for the child throughout the bankruptcy process and reached an agreement with the bankruptcy trustee to provide for the child’s needs.
Partners Charlie Beckham and Kelli Norfleet and Associates Re’Necia Sherald and David Trausch worked as the core team on this case with vital support from Partner Charlie Jones, Senior Counsel Frank Ruttenberg, Counsel Steven Malm and Associates Victor K. Salazar and Lauren Sisson.

"This case reminded us that pro bono work can change lives in lasting ways,” Beckham said. “We were honored to stand up for a child’s future and proud to see the team’s dedication recognized by SALSA.”
Haynes Boone has long been committed to providing legal aid, believing that a fulfilling professional career is more than handling major business transactions or trying complex commercial lawsuits.
