Ellen Conley Joins Institute for Energy Law's Leadership Class

July 25, 2024

Haynes Boone Partner Ellen Conley has been selected to participate in the Institute for Energy Law’s (IEL’s) 2024-2025 Leadership Class. Designed for energy professionals, the IEL Leadership Class is comprised of individuals who are diverse in job type, experience, industry representation, gender, race and ethnicity.

Conley was selected by a committee to participate in the seventh-annual program. Starting in August, the IEL Leadership Class will have regular meetings to increase their knowledge of leadership, communication, diversity and the energy industry. Participants will discover their strengths and weaknesses, the traits of excellent leadership and opportunities for success as energy professionals in today’s climate. In addition, class members will build strong bonds, establish relationships with IEL leaders and have increased opportunities within IEL.

“Ellen is an excellent addition to this year’s Leadership Class,” said Partner David Ammons, an officer of the IEL Litigation and Dispute Practice Committee and a member of the Advisory Board. “Her experience in energy finance matters and oil and gas acquisitions will continue to be strengthened through this program and make her an even greater asset to the firm.”

Conley handles energy finance matters, as well as the acquisition and disposition of oil and gas properties. She represents banks, private capital providers and upstream and midstream energy companies on traditional debt and non-traditional financing transactions. Conley also assists oil and gas companies in acquisition and divestiture transactions through asset or equity sales and with operational matters, including the review and negotiation of industry agreements. She has also been involved in several exploration and production bankruptcies and restructurings.

Conley was named a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star for Energy and Natural Resources in 2023 and 2024 and has been included in the "Ones to Watch" category of The Best Lawyers in America since 2021.

Founded in 1959, the Institute for Energy Law is one of the divisions of The Center for American and International Law. The IEL is a membership organization and counts many of the leading energy companies and attorneys among its international membership. It presents several educational conferences and seminars each year, publishes papers and periodicals and provides an important forum for discussing contemporary issues affecting the energy industries.
