The Dallas Winds, the nation’s leading professional civilian wind band, has elected Haynes Boone Partner Carrie Huff to serve as chair of its Board of Trustees.
Carrie previously served on the board for many years and chaired the organization’s educational committee.
“Carrie understands the big picture and is a proven consensus builder and a creative thinker,” said Kim Campbell, the founder and executive director of The Dallas Winds. “We will be better for having Carrie in this key leadership role.”
Comprised of 50 woodwind, brass and percussion players, The Dallas Winds performs an eclectic blend of musical styles ranging from Bach to Bernstein and Sousa to Strauss. The band has entertained millions of people, including at Dallas’ Morton H. Meyerson Concert Center (its home base), on tour and, increasingly, through recordings and streamed media.
Carrie says she was in band from grade school through high school, developing a lifelong appreciation for music and meeting many people who have remained close friends.
“As a former band kid, I am thrilled to help lead this phenomenal institution as it’s set to begin its 2022-2023 concert series and to reach additional fans in the Dallas area and beyond,” she said. “I also look forwarding to working with the talented conductor, musicians and staff to continue and enhance The Dallas’ Winds educational programs, which have encouraged so many students to participate in band.”
Carrie has practiced law for more than 30 years at Haynes Boone, representing clients in complex commercial litigation, securities and shareholder litigation, class actions, fiduciary disputes and issues involving professional ethics.
