The Global M&A Network recognized Haynes and Boone, LLP for its work on a deal honored at the 2021 Turnaround Atlas Awards during a virtual ceremony on January 22.
The Turnaround Atlas awards honor excellence within the worldwide restructuring and turnaround communities. Over the last 12 years, winners have been selected independently based on the deal performance criteria via a performance benchmark index.

Haynes and Boone lawyers received the Special Situation M&A Deal of the Year Award for their work representing Contango Oil & Gas Company in its acquisition of White Star Petroleum LLC’s assets. Partner Eli Columbus led the team of lawyers and professionals that represented Contango. The team also included Partners Austin Elam and Matt Ferris, Associate Chris Reagen, and Professional Landmen Randy Browne and Ashleigh Gibbs.
The firm represented Contango in the acquisition of assets from White Star and certain affiliates as a part of the White Star Chapter 11 bankruptcy 363 sales process. Contango acquired substantially all of White Star’s assets for a total purchase price of $132.5 million subject to normal and customary closing adjustments.
