Law360: “Haynes Boone Adds Chair for Real Estate Group”
Gabriel Levinson joined the firm on Monday, leaving behind his role as chair of Polsinelli's real estate litigation group and shareholder in its commercial litigation practice. Levinson told Law360 on Thursday that he's always looking for chances to better serve his clients, and that Haynes Boone's platform allows him to do just that.
"They have a great focus and a renewed focus on litigation in New York, they're excellent in real estate transactional work," Levinson rattled off. "They also have incredibly strong corporate transactional work [and] they have a great associate bench of litigation associates."
Levinson told Law360 that he hopes to garner further recognition for Haynes Boone's already stellar reputation as he joins the firm's ranks. He added that the move is also an opportunity to expand the geographic scope and stature of his own practice, already marked by a number of high-profile wins.
Levinson said he recently secured relief for a group of minority owners of a 2-acre commercial real estate property in New York City in a dispute with a board of directors and related LLC.
"Members of the board and certain owners of a limited liability company engaged in wrongful self-dealing conduct to inflate the value of the property," Levinson said. "I uncovered the wrongful conduct and commenced the litigation on behalf of the minority owners."
And while at Polsinelli, Levinson also secured a favorable outcome for the author of a book about U.S. Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O'Connor after the author filed suit amid a dispute over the ownership of film rights to her book ….
And Levinson helped guide a settlement on "favorable terms" for "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Margaret Josephs, as she sought to fend off clothing company Vineyard Vines' attempt to siphon her Bravo paycheck to pay down a copyright judgment.
"Gabriel is a zealous, accomplished litigator, who has successfully tried cases in state and federal courts nationwide," litigation department chair Ben Mesches said in a statement. "Clients will relish his ability to remain laser focused in helping his clients achieve their litigation objectives in the most efficient manner possible."
