Haynes and Boone, LLP Partners Mark Payne and William Cecil spoke with Law360 after Payne joined the firm on May 1 following more than 18 years at Clifford Chance, where he advised on real estate projects such as the extension of the London Underground service to Battersea PowerStation in south London.
"The opportunity to create a real estate practice for Haynes Boone in London and make something new is very exciting and a new challenge that I relished," Payne told Law360.
He said that the optimistic attitude of his colleagues at Haynes Boone has already struck him.
"It's a lovely mixture of things that are very familiar and things that are slightly different," Payne noted. "I'm enjoying the efficiency and positive attitude. I've been really impressed."
Cecil told Law360 that the London arm of Haynes Boones is a "young and entrepreneurial partnership" where lawyers can build out their own practice.
"It's the best of both worlds because we get support, but we get the freedom to be entrepreneurial with our practices," Cecil said.
