Haynes Boone has launched a task force to help clients navigate the business court and additional court of appeal created last year by the Texas Legislature and set to begin operations Sept. 1. …
Litigation partner David Harper, who is a member of the task force, told Law360 Pulse in an interview Tuesday that he expects the new business courts will be of particular interest to clients with high-dollar disputes who could file their matters in other venues and that the Haynes Boone task force is ready to provide counsel and guidance on such decisions.
"With the substantial presence we have in Texas, we felt we needed to be prepared for these new courts and we've assembled people with corporate, litigation and appellate experience," Harper said. "We are prepared to help clients right away as they explore these options, particularly for high-dollar, sophisticated disputes, clients might prefer to have their matter before someone with more specific expertise."
Harper said the team is "well-positioned to help clients understand the new Texas Business Court and how it may affect them," adding that, "For clients involved in litigation, we're prepared to advise them concerning the significance of this new forum and develop a litigation plan tailored to their circumstances."
Members of Haynes Boone's business court task force also include Heather Barger, Natasha Breaux, Brad Foster, Jason Jordan, Ben Mesches and John Turner.
