PERE Honors Haynes and Boone in Multiple Categories
DALLAS – Haynes and Boone, LLP has been named among the top three law firms in two categories by Private Equity Real Estate’s 2010 Global PERE Awards. The firm also played a role in two of the three North American Deals of the Year.
Haynes and Boone ranked second among law firms for transactions in Asia and third among law firms in North America for fund formation. Haynes and Boone was nominated by peers in the global real estate private equity market based largely on its representation of agent banks in the structuring and execution of capital commitment-subscription financings in the two regions.
“In 2010, we represented commercial and investment banking clients in capital commitment-subscription financing facilities totaling approximately $5 billion,” said Partner Albert Tan, co-chair of the firm's global capital commitment subscription financing group and international practice group. “It is particularly rewarding to work with excellent clients and be recognized by our peers in the global real estate private equity market for this specialized financing work that we are helping our clients execute on a global scale.”
Among its deals in Asia, Haynes and Boone represented Bank of America, Japan's Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Singapore’s United Overseas Bank in capital commitment-subscription financing facilities to Asian-focused and global funds sponsored by, among others, Angelo Gordon, Gaw Capital, Invesco Asia, JPMorgan Asia Infrastructure, Lone Star, MGPA Asia, Secured Capital Japan and Starwood.
In the North American Deal of the Year category, Haynes and Boone participated in two of the recognized deals. The firm represented Five Mile Capital, together with Starwood and TPG in a venture referred to as the Starwood Group, as a bidder for bankrupt Extended Stay Hotels. Five Mile Capital also enlisted Haynes and Boone in connection with the sale of John Hancock Tower. The transactions earned second and third place respectively in the category.
This year’s recognition in the Asia and North American categories follows the firm’s recognition by PERE as North American Law Firm of the Year for 2007 and one of the top three Global Law Firms for 2008 in the transactions category. Haynes and Boone commercial and investment banking clients benefit from more than 20 years of our industry experience with capital commitment-subscription financing.
