Haynes and Boone Attorneys Earn Labor and Employment Law Board Certification
SAN ANTONIO – Haynes and Boone, LLP Partner Laura O’Donnell and Associate Lawrence Morales II have both been board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Of Texas’ more than 70,000 licensed attorneys, only 581 have earned the right be publicly recognized as board certified specialists in labor and employment law.
Ms. O’Donnell and Mr. Morales earned the prestigious certification by exhibiting substantial experience in complex labor and employment law and in the preparation and trial of cases before the federal, state and administrative courts dealing with federal and state employment and labor law issues.
Ms. O’Donnell is a litigator in Haynes and Boone’s labor and employment practice. She focuses on issues related to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), class discrimination, employee competition and sexual harassment. Laura also has experience handling matters involving executive contracts and fiduciary duties, Title VII and related state causes of action, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), ERISA and most other employment-based claims. Ms. O’Donnell has handled several appeals of employment decisions to Texas Courts of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Morales has represented clients in jury trials, bench trials, and injunction hearings involving complex employment law issues, including non-competition agreements, breach of fiduciary duty, theft of trade secrets, unfair competition, hostile work environment, retaliation and breach of contract. In addition, Mr. Morales represents companies in litigation and administrative proceedings involving alleged race, gender, national origin and disability discrimination; overtime violations of FLSA; and unfair labor practices under the National Labor Relations Act.
The Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS) was established in 1974 by the State Bar of Texas to promote the availability, accessibility and quality of attorney services to the public and advance the standards of the legal profession. It operates under the continuing jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of Texas and certifies attorneys in 20 select areas of law and paralegals in six areas. The TBLS is the only organization authorized to provide this service to the citizens of Texas.
